- 1). Leave the closet door open as often as possible to promote air circulation. Open windows or run fans in the same room as the closet to introduce additional moving air.
- 2). Replace solid shelving with coated wire racks to allow air to circulate around shelved items.
- 3). Avoid hanging clothing too tightly together or stacking items on shelves. Do not hang or shelve items until they are completely dry.
- 4). Place silica gel packs or tubs on the closet shelves and floors to absorb excess moisture.
- 5). Shake chlorinated lime over the closet floor to absorb musty odors.
