How to Make Animated Brushes on Gimp

    • 1). Open GIMP. Select "File" from the menu and choose "New." In the dialog box that appears, make the document size the same as the size you want for the brush, such as 50x50 pixels. Click on the "Advanced Options" and change the "Fill With" to "Transparency." Click "OK."

    • 2). Go to the "Layers" palette and click on the "New Layer" button twice to create two more transparent layers.

    • 3). Use any of the drawing tools, such as the "Brush" or "Path" tools to create the drawing you want to use as your brush. For example, you might draw a flower. Repeat this on the other two layers using a different color for each.

    • 4). Select "File" from the menu and choose "Save As." In the dialog box that appears, change the file type to GIH. Click "Save." Another dialog appears.

    • 5). Enter the "3" in the "Ranks" entry, since you have a three layer brush. Name the brush and click "OK." Go to the "Brushes" palette and click on the "Refresh" button. You new brush will appear and be ready to use.
