How to Grow a Nespole Tree

    • 1). Dig a hole for your nespoli tree in a spot where it will get full sun. Allow plenty of space for it to grow by planting it 12 to 15 feet away from other trees. Make the hole twice as deep and wide as the root ball.

    • 2). Add enough perlite to the removed soil to make it light and well-draining, as well as equal parts of either dampened peat moss or sand if the soil is lacking in organic matter or is heavy with clay.

    • 3). Remove the loquat from the planting container it was placed in at the nursery, loosening the roots slightly, but keeping the soil ball intact.

    • 4). Place the tree in the prepared hole, adding back the removed soil until the tree sits at ground level. Add the rest of the soil in layers, tamping it down with a tamping pole or a boot heel.

    • 5). Water the newly planted nespoli tree with 3 to 5 gallons of water, depending on its size. Keep the soil moist, until it has a chance to get acclimated to its new location or until you see signs of new growth.
