Is it OK to Plug an LCD TV Into a GFI Outlet?

    • GFI or ground-fault circuit interrupters can read the difference between electrical currents. They are designed to automatically shut off if they detect dangerous changes in electrical current.

    • GFI outlets are designed to be used in kitchens, bathrooms and anywhere else that an outlet might come in contact with a water source.

    • LCD TVs can be used safely and effectively with a GFI outlet. However devices that use a motor, such as a refrigerator or dishwasher should not be plugged into the outlet as the winding of the motor can trip the GFI's sensors.
