How to Make a Paper Origami Football

    • 1). Draw a straight line vertically down the center of a sheet of regular 8 1/2-inch by 11-inch printer paper. Cut along the line you drew. You will use only one half of the sheet of paper for creating your football. Save the other half to create a second football in case you lose the first. If you have a dollar bill or other thin piece of paper you don't want to cut, just fold it in half instead of cutting it.

    • 2). Fold the half of a piece of paper you kept in half with the crease running vertically. You should now have a long thin strip of paper folded in half one time.

    • 3). Lay the paper flat on the table vertically and grasp the bottom right hand corner. Make sure to hold onto both layers of the folded paper and not just the top half. Fold the corner up and to the left until it meets the opposite edge of the paper and creates a triangle shape. Press down to smooth out the crease.

    • 4). Grasp the bottom left hand corner and repeat the process, folding from left to right this time. After you have made the fold, press the paper flat with your hand and smooth out the crease again to ensure the folds stay in place and don't spring back.

    • 5). Fold again from the bottom right corner and continue alternating between the bottom right and bottom left corners until you reach the top of the strip of paper. A small rectangle of excess paper should be left at the top when you run out of room to keep folding.

    • 6). Grip the upper left hand corner of the excess flap of paper and fold it down. Tuck the excess paper into the groove created by repeatedly folding the paper over. You should now have a triangular piece of paper which you can use as a miniature paper football.
