Popsicle Stick Crafts

    Popsicle Stick People Idea

    • Draw a face on one end of a Popsicle stick using permanent markers. Apply craft glue to one side of the stick, just below the face to about an inch from the other end. This is the body section. Wrap yarn, embroidery floss or 1/4-inch wide strips of fabric in the glue around the body. You only need glue on one side to adhere the wrap. If making a girl, wrap one color all the way down the body for a dress. If making a boy, wrap one color half way down the body for a shirt and another color the rest of the way for the pants. This craft is a wonderful way to use up bits and scraps of fabric and yarn.
Apply glue to the bottom inch of the craft stick and wrap it with black or brown yarn for shoes. Apply a dab of glue to the top and back of the face end of the Popsicle stick and attach a wad of craft doll hair about the size of a marble. For fluffier hair, rub it between you hands. For the girl, add an embroidery floss bow to the hair by applying a dot of glue to the bow and pressing it into the hair. For the boy, add a bow at the top of the shirt for a tie.

    Popsicle Stick Trivet

    • For this craft you will need 15 Popsicle sticks. Lay 12 Popsicle sticks side-by-side on your work surface. Apply glue to one side of the remaining three Popsicle sticks. Place the three sticks, glue-side down, across both ends of the 12 arranged Popsicle sticks. Apply the third to the middle. Allow the glue to dry. Turn the trivet over (this is right-side up). Provide the children with acrylic paints, brushes and stamps and let them design their own painted finish for the trivets.
