Internet Speed Required for Hulu HD

    Internet Speed Requirement

    • Hulu HD requires a broadband Internet connection with a 3.0 Megabits per second or higher rating. For standard definition programming, a 1 Mbps or higher Internet connection is required. Before subscribing to the Hulu HD service, you need to contact your Internet Service Provider and ask what Internet speed you currently are receiving or test the speed yourself by accessing the "Speakeasy" or "Speed Test" Internet speed testing links (speakeasy.net/speedtest) or (speedtest.net), and following the on-screen prompts to complete the speed test.

    System Requirements

    • The online television subscription service requires a system running Adobe Flash Player 10.0.32 or above and Microsoft Windows XP Service Pack 2 or above, Mac OS X 10.4 or above, or Linux. Hulu HD also requires JavaScript and cookies to be enabled on your computer's Internet browser -- Internet Explorer 7.0 or above, Firefox 2.0 or above, Safari 3.0 or above, or Chrome.

    Issues

    • If your Internet connection is not rated at 3.0 Mbps or higher, you will notice the Hulu HD video playback jumping as well as stopping as the subscription service is trying to acquire the next frames of video. You may also notice the audio not syncing with the video and the audio may also stop completely. You may also receive "buffering" errors informing you that the Hulu HD service is trying to receive a video stream but is having difficulty processing the request due to your Internet connection being too slow.
