How to Determine Whether a Motherboard Is an ATX or a BTX Board

    • 1). Remove the side panel from your computer. Some computers have a handscrew, while others require a screwdriver to open. When you remove your panel, you should see the motherboard with various cards attached. If you see a solid metal panel just inside the side panel, you need to remove the panel on the opposite side.

    • 2). Measure your motherboard. If it is 305 millimeters tall x 244 millimeters wide, then you have an ATX motherboard. If your motherboard measures 325 millimeters tall --- 266 millimeters wide, you have a BTX motherboard.

    • 3). Reattach the side panel of your case.
