Preemie in the NICU

Preemie in the NICU

Updated June 10, 2015.

Having a premature baby can be stressful.

Instead of a bouncing baby that you can hold and show off to your friends and family, you may not even get to see your baby right after he is born or even hold him for several days or weeks.

It is easy to get overwhelmed in the NICU and seeing your baby on a ventilator and with many tubes and lines all over his body.

We were lucky that our boys were just a few weeks early and didn't have any major problems.

This is Jordan, who was on a ventilator for a few days and then CPAP to help him breath.

Babies' First Days

Updated June 10, 2015.

Like most twins, our boys liked to sleep together their first few months.

Crawling

Updated June 10, 2015.

Learning to crawl is a fun milestone for babies and parents.

You do have to be safe and get your home full childproofed once your baby is crawling though, to make sure that they don't reach any unsafe items.

Twins Playing

Although they also spend a lot of time pushing, hitting, biting, and taking things away from each other, it is nice to see twins playing together too.

First Birthday Party

Updated June 10, 2015.

Your baby's first birthday party can be lots of fun, especially if they have their own birthday cake to eat and make a mess with.

A Day at the Beach

Updated June 10, 2015.

The beach is fun for toddlers, but remember to keep them safe from the sun and water.

Toddler Feelings

Updated June 10, 2015.

Although you may have a calm toddler who rarely fusses, most toddlers show a range of emotions throughout the day, including being happy, sad, and mad.

Not surprisingly, the boys quickly learned that when tantrums didn't work, they could usually get their way if they acted like their feelings were hurt.

First Halloween

Updated June 10, 2015.

While not really their first Halloween, their first toddler Halloween was the first one that they really seemed to enjoy.

Updated June 10, 2015.

These Halloween costumes, where the twins dressed up as Superman and Batman, were a little more 'manly' than the pumpkin infant costumes they wore the previous year.

We are still working on sharing. Unfortunately, this photo shows the more typical 'mine' and 'gimme' toddler behaviors, instead of true sharing.
