How to Make a Knitted Diagonal Dishcloth

    • 1). Cast two stitches onto left needle using your preferred method. Turn the needles and knit once into each cast-on stitch.

    • 2). Return the needle with stitches to the left side. Increase by knitting into the front and back of the first stitch. Achieve this increase by inserting the right needle into the front of the stitch and wrapping the yarn as if to knit, but do not remove the stitch from your left needle. Repeat this into the back of the same stitch, but remove the stitch from your left needle. Knit the final stitch. You now have three stitches on the right needle.

    • 3). Switch your needles. Knit the first stitch. Knit into the front and back of the second stitch. Knit the final stitch. You have increased to four stitches.

    • 4). Return the needle without stitches to your right hand. Knit the first two stitches. Yarn over by wrapping the yarn around the right needle from front to back. Knit the remaining stitches in the row. You should have five total stitches.

    • 5). Repeat the previous step, increasing one stitch each row, until you have a row with 45 stitches.

    • 6). Return the needle to your right hand. Knit the first stitch. Knit the next two stitches together. Achieve this decrease by inserting your right needle into the next two stitches on left needle. Loop the working yarn around the right needle and pull it through. Drop both stitches off the left needle. Yarn over. Knit the next two stitches together. Knit each stitch remaining on the row. You should have decreased to 44 stitches.

    • 7). Repeat the previous step, reducing one stitch one each row, until you have a row with five stitches.

    • 8). Turn your needles. Knit the first stitch. Knit the next two stitches together. Yarn over. Knit the final two stitches together. You now have four stitches.

    • 9). Switch the needles. Knit your first stitch. Knit the next two stitches together. Knit your final stitch. You should have reduced to three stitches.

    • 10

Turn the needles. Knit the first stitch. Knit the remaining two stitches together.

    • 11

Return the needle to your right hand. Bind off the remaining two stitches. Weave in all the ends to finish your dishcloth.
