How to Be a Good Soccer Dribbler

    Cones

    • 1). Set up eight cones, in a line, with the cones spaced roughly 3 feet apart.

    • 2). Dribble the ball through the cones, using the cones as imaginary opponents to pivot around. Try to protect the ball from the cones as if they were opponents trying to take the ball from you.

    • 3). Do the drill for speed, once you have mastered the basics of the drill. Finish the course as quickly as possible.

    Protecting the Ball

    • 1). Mark off a 20 yard-by-20 yard square with the cones.

    • 2). Dribble the ball in the square. Your opponent should attempt to take the ball away from you.

    • 3). Switch from attacker to defender after your opponent takes the ball away from you. Try to take the ball away from your opponent faster than our opponent was able to take it away from you.

    Defend the Line

    • 1). Mark off a 20 yard-by-20 yard square with the cones.

    • 2). Stand in the middle of the square, and have your opponent start with the ball outside the square on one side.

    • 3). Have your opponent attempt to enter the square on one side and exit on the opposite side, while protecting the ball from you. Your goal is to take the ball away from your opponent.

    • 4). Switch roles once one round is complete.
